Here’s our initial Calendar of Events for 2010.

More events will be added as and when the relevant organisers confirm the dates, these include more American Tournaments on a Sunday morning, Golf Day and cricket match versus Barnack.

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2009

 8pm on Thursday 19^th November 2009 in the Clubhouse 

Prior to the AGM there will the presentation of Club Awards.

 AGENDA

 1.         Apologies

2.         Minutes of the AGM held in November 2008 & Matters arising

3.         Committee’s Report, presented by Chairman

4.         Report on Juniors & Coaching

5.         Treasurer’s Report

6.         Election of club officers and committee members

7.         Any Other Business

8.         Open discussion for all club members

 Members other than Temporary Members shall be entitled to be present and to speak at the AGM and, if aged 18 years or over, to vote thereat. The rules for the conduct of the meeting are to be found in clause 13 of the Club Rules.

 Any Member wishing to propose a resolution at the Annual General Meeting must send a copy thereof to the Honorary Secretary before 1^st November so that provision may be made on the Agenda.

 Additional business may be accepted at the meeting at the discretion of the Chairman in accordance with Club Rules. The quorum shall be 8 adult Members

The Club enjoyed yet another successful Finals Day with some 6 Finals taking place and some great tennis being played. The day started off with the Club Men’s Singles where defending Champion Dominic Higgs proved too strong for Mark Pallister and came through  6-4, 6-2. 

The Club’s new Ladies Captain Emily John-Davis had to save a match point in the second set before winning a tightly fought match against Kimberly Pallister 5-7, 7-6, 6-2.

The Club’s Men’s Singles Tableau 2 final was won by Shay Ginat who dominated his match against John Dalkiran and won 6-2, 6-2.  The men’s doubles was a repeat of the last two years and Nick Crowson and Martin Trawford re-instated themselves as Club Champions by defeating Marc Sumner and Mark Pallister by 6-4, 7-6. 

The Ladies Doubles was won by Penny Cooper and Kimberly Pallister who defeated Emily John-Davis and Lucy Watts 6-4, 6-2.  Alex Smith led the way for the Juniors, winning the Boys under 18 singles against William Bourne.

 Congratulations to everyone who played and contributed to a great day at Stamford Tennis Club.

With the season coming to an end, all of our teams have done particularly well this year and enjoyed some excellent tennis.

 In Peterborough & District leagues:

A Team - ended up 2^nd again, it must be over 5 years in a row they’ve ended up 2^nd - maybe next year!

B Team - following their promotion from Division 2, they had their highest ever finish, coming 4^th and establishing themselves in Division 1.

C Team - currently leading Division 2 and almost certain to be promoted to Division 1 next year.

D Team - they pushed the C Team all the way and ended a very creditable 4^th

E Team - they are still in contention for promotion too and depending on Nens last match, they might still get it

F Team - they also were in contention for promotion too and have ended up just missing out in 4^th
