Play Tennis, get fit, meet people, make friends!

Club Info

Welcome to our tennis club – we hope you enjoy your time with us and look forward to seeing you at the various events, sporting and social, held throughout the year. We offer opportunities for all levels of player – with serious and fun matches arranged for children and adults.

Social Tennis is available Tuesday mornings from 9:30 (tea/coffee & freshly baked cake frequently and kindly provided by honorary member, Carol, afterwards!). This is a great opportunity to exercise the skills learned during the Rusty Rackets classes run at the club, within an informal and supportive environment. Sunday mornings from 10:00 would be the next step up for many – but don’t let that put you off. We are a friendly bunch!

Friday evenings from 6:00 is for members who already play for one of our teams and relish the opportunity to practise within a competitive environment. Interested in committing to playing team tennis for us and play a good level of confident tennis? – then this is the session to highlight in your tennis diary.

Group Coaching Programmes run all year round (contact Carole Wilson:07939.095.713). They are very well supported by club members and come highly recommended. Full details are posted at the Club House and regularly e-mailed.

Children’s tennis camps are frequently run during holidays and very much enjoyed, in addition to the Children’s Coaching Programme run all year.

Private Lessons are also available. We are fortunate in having a number of well qualified coaches here, who cater for all levels of player. Full details available at the Club House, their numbers are:

Teams. We enter a number of teams in local leagues. Members wishing to play competitive tennis and represent the club should contact the Club Secretary (Penny Waite 07538.673.628). Practise on Friday evenings.

Social Events are regularly organised and advertised in the e-bulletins and in the Club House. Suggestions for social activities and assistance with them are always welcome (Maggie Knight 07765.240.136).

Members Calendar of all events is posted in the Club House.

Use of Courts. Members may use the 7 hard courts at all times when not required for use by Stamford School (generally in school hours on school days). The club also has ‘grace-and-favour’ use of the 6 astro courts during the summer, when the school doesn’t require them. There is no court booking system – just turn up and play.

Guests are permitted, however, need to be signed in the Club Diary which is just inside the door and £2 honesty fee paid per guest (max 5 visits per guest per season please).

Floodlights are free of charge. When first using, please see a committee member, coach, or long term club member for full operating instructions.

Swipe cards are available from the membership secretary and are necessary if you require entry to the clubhouse when coaches aren’t present. (Jane Anderson: 07535.760.710)
