Stamford Tennis Club enjoyed it’s most successful Final’s Day yet with some 10 Finals taking place and some great tennis being played. The day started off with the Club Men’s Singles where Dominic Higgs proved to have the winning formula against Justin Boughey’s serve and volley and came through 6-4, 6-4. Lucy Watts was too strong for last year’s Ladies Champion Kim Pallister and went on to win her first Ladies Singles title by 6-0, 6-2.

Alex Smith lead the way for the Juniors winning the Boys under 18 singles against David Wigging by 6-0, 6-1. Joe Chedd celebrated 2 wins by taking the Boys Under 16 Singles against Josh Good by 7-6, 7-6 and also winning the Boys Under 14 Singles against Will Bourne by 6-3, 6-3. Will made up for his lose by winning the Boys Under 12 Singles against Felix Beech 6-7, 6-2. 7-6. Felix like Will also didn’t go home empty-handed as he won the Boys under 10 Singles against Benedict Swindells 4-1, 4-1. Suzanne Huskyes and Imogen Huxley contested both the Girls Under 16 and Under 14 Singles with Imogen winning by 6-2, 6-0.

The Club’s Men’s Singles Tableau 2 final was contested by 2 relatively new members and Warren Thomas made it a disappointing day for David Wiggin by winning by 6-3. 6-2. One of the last matches of the day saw Nick Crowson and Martin Trawford looking to defend their Men’s Doubles title, but it wasn’t to be with Marc Sumner and Mark Pallister winning through in 3 sets by 7-6, 2-6, 6-3.

Congratulations to everyone that played and adding to a great day at Stamford Tennis Club.
